Added Experience

The 33-year-old will provide a wealth of experience to the current cohort of ‘keepers in the Tottenham squad.

Hart, while he is not likely to play consistently, will provide invaluable experience to the younger goalkeepers such as Alfie Whiteman.

While he only made three appearances for Burnley last season, all of which came in the cup competitions, he played a similar role for the Clarets.

As a result, while his career has suffered a turn since leaving Manchester City in 2016, there is more to this signing than what the eye can see.

What Was Said?

Speaking about his move to the Tottenham website, Hart said: “I’m here to help the team in anyway I can, be it on the field or off the field. I’m here to try and help push the club forward.”

The 33-year-old spoke about how he has coped with the last few years of his career. He stressed that it has not been easy.

“There is no getting way for it, a difficult couple of years for me personally on the football field. But, I feel like I’ve got so much to give, I feel like I’ve got a lot of quality, obviously I’ve got a lot in the bank.

“I’m here to work as a team player. I’m a team player, always have been and always will be, whether my name is on the teamsheet or not, it’s a squad effort.

“I know what it takes to win titles, I know what it takes to change a club’s dynamic for the better.”

Hart is the second player to join Tottenham this summer, following the arrival of Pierre-Emile Hojberg.
