REPORT: Aaron Ramsey Set to Stay at Juventus

Aaron Ramsey

Ex-Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey is likely to stay at Juventus this season, according to Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Sports. Earlier this month, it seemed that the Turin club were willing to sell the former Arsenal star. However, Ramsey is understood to be on an excellent contract at Juventus, making it difficult to off-load the Welshman.

REPORT: Juventus Set to Keep Ramsey

A Season of Highs and Lows for Aaron Ramsey

In Ramsey’s first campaign at Juventus, it took him a while to adapt. In the early part of the season, Sarri was eager to use Ramsey as an attacking midfielder. The Welshman struggled receiving the ball with his back to goal and was slowly given less and less game-time.

At the end of January, Ramsey started to enjoy his football under Maurizio Sarri. He relished the formation change, which led to the former Arsenal man playing in his preferred number-eight role. In the weeks leading up to the enforced suspension of Serie A, the 29-year-old hit peak form. After two exceptional performances against SPAL and Inter Milan, Ramsey was rightfully gutted when the season came to an abrupt halt.

Ramsey Is Not the Midfielder They Are Focused on Selling

After significant speculation about Ramsey’s future, it seems he is not the man Juventus are focused on selling.

The Serie A champions are more concerned about selling Sami Khedira alongside the already departed Blaise Matuidi. Juventus could be light in the midfield department come next season.

Aaron Ramsey High Wage Reason for Stay

After a deal was secured of £300,000 a week at Juventus last summer, Ramsey is set for another season in Italy. The fact is, even if Juventus did want to offload the Welshman this summer, they would struggle to find any suitable interest. The former Arsenal man’s wages simply exceed the amount any club will be willing to pay this summer, especially after the Coronavirus pandemic.
