Borussia Dortmund to Acquire Real Madrid’s Reinier on Season-Long Loan

First Chance at European Football

Reinier’s first appearance in a top European league has yet to occur. The 18-year-old signed with Real Madrid in the January transfer window from Brazilian side, Flamengo, but is yet to feature for the senior team.

Dortmund will offer Reinier his first big opportunity to feature for a top club in Europe. At 18, he’s still very early in his career and playing at Dortmund seems like the perfect place to start his journey. The Bundesliga club have a proven track record of producing and developing top talent which makes this a good loan move for both Real Madrid and Reinier.

According to the report from Ruhr Nachrichten, there is an option to extend the loan past the 2020/21 season for a second year. With Real Madrid’s wealth of talent, it could be very likely Reinier spends two seasons with Dortmund as he continues to develop.

A Chance to Play With Some of the Best Young Players in the World

Dortmund currently possess some of the best young players in world football. Striker Erling Braut Haaland headlines the players currently on the team sheet. As an attacking midfielder, he will be working alongside Haaland, and having such a talent to finish chances he creates could put on full display the capacity Reinier has as a player.

The young Brazilian showed he can produce goals and assist when given the opportunity. When he featured for Flamengo in Brazil’s Serie A, he recorded six goals and two assists in 14 appearances. At Dortmund, he could very well find similar success.

With the unfortunate loss of Marco Reus to start the Bundesliga season, Reinier should be able to get immediate playing time at Dortmund. It remains unclear how long Reus will be out for and Reinier is certainly a good replacement during his absence.
