Liverpool Defender Morgan Boyes Joins Fleetwood Town On Loan

Liverpool have announced that young defender Morgan Boyes has joined Fleetwood Town on loan for the season. The talented centre back will link with Joey Barton’s Fleetwood side who are competing for promotion in League One.

Boyes has made two senior appearances for Liverpool but will now get some consistent game time under his belt.

Boyes Will Spend The 2020/21 Season With The League One Side

Boyes has been a regular in the Under 23s set up at Liverpool but will now taste the football league for the first time. His two senior appearances came in last season’s Carabao Cup ties against Everton and Aston Villa.

He will join a Fleetwood Town side hoping to go one better this season and secure promotion. The Cod Army fell short last campaign losing in the play-off semi-finals to Wycombe Wanderers.

The defender arrives as Fleetwood’s third summer signing after Callum Camps and Jordan Rossiter.

At the age of 19, Boyes is ready to test himself in the football league and show what he can do. He has plenty of experience in the academy and has represented Wales at Under 19 level.

Morgan Boyes “Excited” About Fleetwood Move

Speaking to the Fleetwood website about his move, Boyes said “I’m excited to start and play men’s football for the first time for a great club like Fleetwood Town.”

“Playing in the under 23s at Liverpool is good but it’s not the real game. I want to move into the league and get going with the group of lads that we have here now.”

“It’s going to be a challenge coming here but I know that and I want to get going straight away. I was in training, my first day today, and there were a few characters in the squad. I think everything went well and luckily everyone was fine with me.”

“I’m a good solid defender. I’d like to say I’m a calm defender who likes to play and build up from the back. I don’t like to just get rid of it, I’d rather just get the ball down and get the ball up the pitch.”

“I like to keep it calm, and prevent silly risks on the ball. Off the pitch though, I’d say that I’m a bit of a character but that will grow as I get to know the new set of lads.”

Joey Barton Delighted To Bring In The Defender

Manager Joey Barton added “He’s a player our scouts have been watching for a while and we are delighted to get him.”

“Morgan is a young player with plenty of potential, hopefully, we can help him develop at Fleetwood and see him establish himself in our side.”
