REPORT: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on Verge of New Arsenal Contract

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

After months of ongoing talks, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is close to signing a new three-year contract at Arsenal, according to Matt Law of the Telegraph. The news follows a triumphant FA Cup final for Arsenal in which Aubameyang netted an all-important brace. Tying down the former Borussia Dortmund man once looked unlikely, but Mikel Arteta’s arrival has seemingly proved vital in talks between the player and club.

Arsenal’s Most Important Piece of Business This Summer

Like any transfer window, Arsenal have been linked with various reinforcements that would undoubtedly improve their squad. But, unlike previous windows, it is perhaps the business done within the club rather than incomings that will prove to be the difference.

By reportedly securing the services of Aubameyang for the next three years, Arsenal will have a guaranteed a 20-goals-a-season striker; losing Aubameyang would lead to catastrophic consequences. The forward’s importance to the squad far outweighs anything potential incomings could bring to the side. Coming to an agreement with Aubameyang has rightfully been the top priority this summer.

Better Days Ahead

Since the arrival of Mikel Arteta, though the club still faces many in house problems, Arsenal have looked far more stable. A plan for the future once more seems apparent. Now that the Aubameyang’s contract issue has reportedly been resolved too, Arteta can continue plans for the future.

The Arsenal manager has previously stated his desire to build his team around club captain Aubameyang, saying after the FA Cup victory: “The team that I want to build around him and the conversations I have with the people who are very influential around him.”

Arsenal’s 14th FA Cup victory looks to have convinced Aubameyang, who will reportedly be looking towards further glory in an Arsenal shirt for the next three years.
