Experienced Midfielders Joins the Robins

Following his release from the Gas in the summer, Cheltenham Town have acted quickly in snapping up the midfielder.

The 30-year-old has penned a one year deal with the Gloucestershire side and will be looking to mount a promotion charge with the Robins this season.

What Was Said

Speaking to the clubs’ official website, Sercombe said: “I’m very happy. To get it done before pre-season you want to get off to a good start with the boys which is a big positive.

“We want to go for a promotion push this season. It’s a club that can go to League One and that’s what I’m aiming for. When I came and met the manager that’s what he wants as well.”

Journey So Far

Sercombe came through the ranks at Exeter City and was part of the Grecians side that won promotion to the Football League in 2008. He was a key part of the side that achieved promotion to League One just 12 months later.

The midfielder made over 250 appearances for Exeter before joining Oxford United in League Two. Again, he secured promotion to League One, and he was a key part of the side, netting 17 goals.

He played with the U’s for two seasons, in which he featured in back to back Football League Trophy finals, before switching to Bristol Rovers for an undisclosed fee. The midfielder has continued to impress, turning out well over 100 times in three seasons for the Gas.
