Breakthrough Season

Williams has enjoyed a fantastic breakthrough season at Old Trafford. He has made 33 appearances for the Manchester United first-team this season in all competitions, including  his debut in a 3-1 home win over Brighton and Hove Albion. Williams impressed and continued with a great first campaign in the senior team. He kept Luke Shaw out of the starting XI after the established left-back’s injury and his presence has pushed his fellow fullback to improve his form.

Williams only signed his last contract in October 2019, but his impressive debut campaign has encouraged United to reward the academy graduate.

A Proud Moment

Williams spoke to Manchester United’s official website after signing his deal. He told them that he is extremely proud to represent his boyhood club and to sign a fresh deal.

“Having been at Manchester United since I was seven years old, it’s genuinely a dream come true to be playing in the first team,” Williams said.

“It has taken a huge amount of hard work to reach this point and it has been really special for me to break through into the squad.”

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer also commented on Williams’ new deal. The Manchester United boss was impressed by the left-back’s season and, because of this, is delighted he committed his future to the club.

“This new deal is a real testament to his hard work and the progress that he has made. Brandon never looked back having come all the way through the system, he understands what it means to play for Manchester United.”

“[Williams] has all of the attributes required to be a member of this exciting young squad. He will continue to learn every day in training and we look forward to watching him develop.”
