A Worry for Real Madrid

The reported news of Mariano’s positive case will be a worry for Real Madrid; the Champions League second leg against Manchester City is only a matter of weeks away. Diaz will be missing that game altogether due to the isolation period.

The Madrid forward is currently isolating at home and did not take part in training today. The tie between Manchester City and Madrid should still take place despite the scare with no other positive tests reported. The test was also taken at home, meaning Mariano did not come into contact with any of the players.

Disappointment for Mariano

Mariano will be keen to fit in as many big occasions as possible with a Champions League tie at the Etihad at the very top of that list. Now, with the test returned as positive, Mariano will be forced to watch on from home. Real Madrid are already behind on aggregate.

The forward is yet to show Zinedine Zidane proof of his ability and capabilities of gaining a starting place.

A Warning Sign for Premier League Players?

The positive test came after Mariano had returned from holiday ahead of the return of Champions League football. Mariano’s case can act as a warning sign to Premier League players who are set to have a two week holiday before pre-season. We may even see a spike of cases in each domestic league as players return for pre-season.
