Missilou Arrives From Oldham Athletic

Northampton announced via their website they had signed the French-born midfielder. Missilou arrives on a free transfer following his exit from Oldham Athletic. The Congolese international has signed a one-year deal with the option of a further year.

The 28-year-old spent his entire career in France before joining Oldham in 2018. Missilou became a fans favourite at Oldham making 77 appearances across his two seasons at Boundary Park.

His arrival begins Keith Curle’s recruitment drive to put a strong team together. Curle’s main priority is putting a team together ready to fight in League One in September. Survival will be the aim for the Cobblers and Missilou will hope to play a part.

Keith Curle Pleased With Signing Of Missilou

Speaking to the Northampton website about his new signing, Curle said: “Christopher is a good fit for us and he is a signing we are delighted to make.”

“He is primarily a defensive midfield player who enjoys the competitive side of the game.”

“He generally plays behind the ball, but he has a forward thinking mentality, supporting play and he can read the game well. Christopher senses danger and helps breaks things up.”

“He can also step through the lines and he has a good range of passing ability.”

“Christopher is also a good age. We want players with the ambition, hunger and desire to progress and he is very much in that bracket while also having a good amount of experience. He has played a lot of games over the last two years.”

“He has always impressed us when we have watched him and we are delighted to welcome him to Northampton Town.”
