REPORT: Everton One of Four Clubs in the Race for Liverpool Midfielder Adam Lallana

Everton are one of four Premier League clubs in the race for Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana, according to Mike McGrath of The Telegraph.

The 32-year-old signed a short-term deal until the end of the season at Anfield, but is unlikely to play for the Reds again.

Departing Anfield

Lallana is set to leave Anfield after six years on Merseyside.

Liverpool’s meteoric rise has seen him fall down the pecking order in midfield. Twelve of his 15 Premier League appearances have been from the bench.

As a result, he has been deemed surplus to requirements by Jurgen Klopp, and has been allowed to run down the remainder of his contract.

However, there remains respect between the German and Lallana. Speaking recently, Klopp said that the 32-year-old is unlikely to play again this season in order to protect his future.

“It is clear Adam will leave the club in the summer,” Klopp said to Sky Sports.

“But now we have a difficult situation, but I will respect Adam a lot. And everything with Adam is sorted, let me say it like this.

“He is so fit, he is training, everything is fine. But yes, the future is his future, and if we need his help on the pitch we can get it. He is there.

“He trains 100 per cent but as long as we don’t need it, he will just train. That is the normal thing.

“I think there were a lot of discussions about players without contracts, with him there was not even a discussion.

“It was clear Adam would extend his contract and he wants to do that as well, but he will not put any risk on his future or whatever. That is absolutely clear.”

Several Clubs in the Race for His Signature

Everton are not the only club looking to sign Lallana, however.

The Telegraph are reporting Leicester City, Brighton & Hove Albion and Burnley are all also interested in his signature.

According to The Sun, it is Brighton who are leading the chase for the midfielder. Graham Potter is reportedly keen to bring him to the South Coast to boost his options in midfield.

A player of Lallana’s quality and experience is likely to attract plenty of interest. He would prove an excellent addition to all four clubs, especially on a free transfer.
