Played for Tottenham’s Youth Team

Before his loan move, he played in 44 games for Pompey in 2017/18 as they finished a solid eighth in League One.

McGee was also a member of the youth side at Tottenham Hotspur. He never actually featured in a game for Spurs though, and spent the 2016/17 season on loan at Peterborough United.

For Posh, he also featured quite heavily, making 39 appearances and conceding 53 goals.

He then decided to make the full-time switch to Portsmouth.

McGee has reportedly been a man in demand, with Forest Green Rovers doing well to secure his signature against a number of Championship clubs who were also eager to sign him up.

Mark Cooper’s ‘Number One Target’ in Goal

Speaking to the club’s official website about his move to the club, McGee said: “I’m delighted to get the deal done and can’t wait to get started and put my roots down.

“I’ve had positive chats with head coach Mark Cooper and FGR are an ambitious club, who meet my objectives.”

Cooper is also happy to have brought the goalkeeper to the club saying: “Luke was always our number one target in discussions with Dan Connor (goalkeeper Coach) and my staff.

“He had a good grounding at Tottenham and played at Peterborough and played lots of games for Portsmouth. He’s 6ft 4ins, makes good saves and more importantly keeps the ball out of the net.

“He had interest from the Championship to go in as a number two, but wanted to come to us and play.”

McGee will now be hoping that he can use his experience from a higher tier of English football to help his new club in their bid to challenge in League Two.
