Prolific Non-League Striker Makes Switch to Stevenage

Dover Striker Joins Relegated Boro

Stevenage boss Alex Revell has begun preparing for the 2020-21 season by making his first summer signing.

Stevenage were relegated to the National League by just one point despite Macclesfield Town receiving point reductions throughout the season.

Forward Inih Effiong has agreed terms with Stevenage after a successful season with National League side Dover Athletic.

The 6’3″ forward scored 16 goals from 38 appearances for the Kent side as they finished 12th, four points behind the play-offs.

29-year-old Effiong has played for a number of teams since coming through the youth ranks of St Albans City.

The well-travelled forward has featured for several sides. Among his former employers include Boreham Wood and Biggleswade Town – where he scored 39 goals in 68 appearances. He also featured for Barrow, as well as Ross County in Scotland

“I am delighted to sign,” Effiong commented on his move to Hertfordshire. “I had a few options on the table but just the way the manager came in and showed me what he is about, what he wants to do, the ambition for the club and with the facilities here.

“Everything is perfect to better yourself and go to the next level.”

Boss Alex Revell added: “He is a fantastic character and will be a huge addition to the squad.

“His pace, power, physical strength and goals are everything that we are looking for in a striker.

“Myself and Leon are working extremely hard to make sure we bring goals into the team and Inih is the start of that.

“It is so important we bring the right characters into the club who will give absolutely everything on a daily basis.”
