Jordan Bowery to Join Mansfield Town From MK Dons

MK Dons striker Jordan Bowery will join League Two side Mansfield Town when the transfer window opens. The 28-year-old was not among the nine players released by the Dons last week as he still had a year to run on his contract. However, the two clubs have agreed terms for the player to make the move.

Struggled to Make an Impact

The striker’s move from Crewe Alexandra last season was questioned by fans. He had scored eight goals in Crewe’s 2018/19 campaign and many thought that the step up to League One would be too big of a jump.

It seems that the fans were proved right. Bowery scored just twice for the club in his 22 appearances, 16 of which came in the league. Both of these came in the opening two months of the season against Wycombe Wanderers and Sunderland when Paul Tisdale was still in charge.

Bowery has not played for the club in 2020. The form of Rhys Healey, the emergence of Sam Nombe and the loan signing of Carlton Morris kept him out of the team. His last appearance for the club proved to be the 3-1 defeat to Gillingham on December 21, 2019.

What Was Said?

Speaking to the Mansfield Town website, Jordan Bowery said of the move: “I’m excited about this move to Mansfield. I feel like this is the right place for me to show what I can do.

“I will work as hard as anyone. I’m athletic, powerful, like to run in behind, control and hold up the ball. I’ll do whatever it takes to get a goal and work hard for the team.

“I’ll now be looking to get myself in peak condition for whenever we return. I’ll be raring to go when we do.”
