Leading the Way

According to a report from Sky Sports, UEFA President Alexander Ceferin has said there is no way Liverpool won’t be crowned Premier League Champions. Ceferin confirmed Liverpool will be champions should be the season be allowed to finish. However, if the Coronavirus does see the rest of the season cancelled, then the only option would be to null and void the season.

Liverpool have eight games remaining and are currently 25 points clear at the top of the Premier League table. However, it is unknown when the season will be allowed to continue with Coronavirus pandemic continuing to halt world football.

Ceferin said: “I see no way for Liverpool to stay untitled. If the championship resumes, they will almost certainly win it. Theoretically, it has not yet reached the guaranteed level, but it is practically close.

“However, if it could not be played, it would also be necessary to announce the results in some way and find some key on how the champions should be determined. And, of course, again I do not see a scenario in which that would not be Liverpool.

“I understand that fans will be disappointed if it happens in an empty stadium or even at the green table. I believe they will win the title one way or another.”

Ceferin Hopeful Football Can Resume in the Future

Ceferin remains confident football can resume once the Coronavirus pandemic eases. He remains hopeful the Italian and Spanish leagues can continue despite Italy and Spain’s ongoing problems with the Coronavirus.
