REPORT: Alfredo Morelos Tipped to Leave Rangers

Arriving from HJK Helsinki in 2017, Alfredo Morelos has sealed his place as a fan favourite amongst the Rangers support. But after countless stellar performances up top for the Glasgow outfit, he is already linked with seemingly countless European clubs. Rangers have started planning ahead.

Alfredo Morelos Set to Move?

Premier League Clubs Show Interest

According to an article in the Birmingham Mail, the Colombian’s agent had given off a signal to a few teams to make a move for Morelos. The teams that were subject to the signal have been said to be Aston Villa, Newcastle United, and Leicester City. Theofilos Karasavvidis, the player’s agent, has tipped his value to rise in the coming years.

The Player’s Profile

An aggressive striker, he has helped the Gers’ attack to numerous opportunities, applying pressure to the opponent’s backline and sublime finishes. His current value is said to be around the £20 million to £25 million mark. Still relatively young at 23-years-old, clubs will no doubt want to find out what his remaining potential could do.

The Situation Analysed

Via the Sun, Rangers legend Kenny Miller has stated that he believes Alfredo Morelos is looking for a way out of Rangers. Miller used the Columbian’s dip in form in the second part of this season as an example. He quoted; “For me, I know he’s an absolute fans favourite and they love him but you’ve got to look at the bigger picture”

Kenny Miller had conflicted with Morelos’ agents’ views by adding on the following; “He’s playing really well, his price is never going to be as high as it is now and he hasn’t had a great second half of the season”. He doesn’t believe Alfredo’s value will go any higher than it is already.

Replacements for Morelos?

Some possible replacements have been listed on a Spanish article on Goal.com. Those players are seemingly rumoured transfer targets that are to be planned upon if Alfredo is to leave. Swansea‘s Rhian Brewster, Sint-Truiden‘s Mohamed Buya Turay, Lawrence Shankland of rivals Dundee United, Clermont Foot‘s Adrian Grbic, and Josh Maya of Bordeaux.

All of the options above are relatively youthful and possibly will provide a relative amount of firepower for the Rangers attack to give SPFL defences a hard time as Morelos has done.
