Manchester United have made a surprising move in their chase of Jack Grealish, reports George Smith of Football.London.

Manchester United Make Shock Jack Grealish Move

Poor Off-Field Attitude

Jack Grealish has proven time and time again that he has a poor attitude off the pitch.

In April 2015, Grealish was pictured inhaling ‘hippy crack’ from a balloon at a party, having inspired the Villains to an FA Cup semi-final upset over Liverpool.

In the summer of that year, Grealish once again got caught up in another scandal. The Englishman was seen sprawled across the floor, surrounded by packets of cigarettes, and apparently drunk, while on holiday in Tenerife.

His latest incident came last weekend. Grealish posted a warning to stay inside on his Twitter account on Saturday, saying “this is urgent, protect the NHS, stay home, save lives”. He swiftly broke the quarantine rules, however, going to a party with a friend less than 24 hours after uploading the video. He crashed into parked cars while trying to get home, drunk, causing much controversy over whether he deserves a move to Manchester United, especially with his poor record, and being club captain for Aston Villa.

Ed Woodward’s Comments

In his most recent conference call, Ed Woodward made several comments regarding the January transfer window, and how they wish to move forwards.

He said that “Despite being linked in the media to 111 players in January, our acquisition of just one of them – Bruno Fernandes – is an important step in that direction, demonstrating our commitment to adding experienced, world-class recruits to the exciting crop of academy graduates that are at the heart of this developing team.

“We will take the same planned, disciplined, approach this coming summer.”

The last part can especially be applied to Grealish.

With Woodward planning a disciplined approach to the window, he is likely not to be splashing the cash on any player he wants. Although the 24-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford, he is not a necessity.

Grealish naturally plays at attacking midfield or left-wing, but with new signing Bruno Fernandes having taken to the former, and Marcus Rashford establishing himself firmly in the latter, spending £70 million on a player whose off-pitch attitude is not desirable may not be the best, most disciplined, approach to the summer transfer window, especially with the financial implications of the Coronavirus.
