REPORT: Liverpool Make Shock Timo Werner Decision

Liverpool Put All Talks on Hold

However, according to reports by Dominic King of the Daily Mail, Liverpool have put all transfer and contract plans on hold due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

The Liverpool fanbase highly admires Werner. Werner seems to feel the same, as he has spoken positively about the Reds on numerous occasions. The move seemed very likely before, but now there is no way to know what will happen. If the German was looking forward to a move to the Premier League, he might not get what he desired.

With talks still progressing to decide the fate of the season, nothing is completely certain, including the summer transfer window. Because of these uncertainties, Liverpool have decided to only start working on deals when they are sure of what the future holds.

Timo Werner may not be the only player who doesn’t know his future. Liverpool have also stopped any contract talks with any current squad members.

Current Squad Members also Affected

A major player who may be affected by this is Gini Wijnaldum. His contract currently expires in the summer of 2021. Even though Wijnaldum has been a key part of Jurgen Klopp’s side, there is still a real danger of him becoming a free agent.

Dejan Lovren is another current Red affected by this decision. His contract was probably not going to be extended, but he was attracting interest from other sides. Now that Liverpool have put all talks on hold, the Croatian might leave for free, and Liverpool will not get their money’s worth.

There are a lot of uncertainties caused by the Coronavirus pandemic. It seems these uncertainties might actually have lasting impacts in the football world.
