REPORT: Independiente Waiting for Sergio Aguero

Sergio Aguero has always made it clear that he would return to Argentina when he finishes his playing time in Europe. It feels like that time is coming soon. The 31-year-olds’ Manchester City contract runs out in the summer of 2021 and all signs point to him making his return to his Argentinian home; Independiente.

Report: Independiente Waiting for Sergio Aguero

Independiente Want Him Back

This story starts with some quotes from current Independiente coach Lucas Pusineri. The former Independiente player was once teammates with Sergio Aguero and AC Milan’s Lucas Biglia.  And now that he is the coach, he wants the pair back.

“With Sergio Aguero and Lucas Biglia, I have a beautiful relationship. We were partners and I have a lot of respect for the trajectories they have taken with Argentina and in Europe as well. Of Course, it would be nice to have them tomorrow. In the future, it is hopeful to count on them.”

This is exactly what an Independiente fan wants to hear. Sergio Aguero has always said that he would return to the club while he still had something to give them. It is beginning to look more and more like the summer of 2021 will be that moment.

Manchester City to Allow Aguero Move

However, there are some obstacles that may get in the way, but Manchester City won’t be an obstacle. The club would like to keep Aguero on a new contract. To their credit, they understand the situation here and would have no issue allowing Aguero to return to his home.

One of those obstacles will undoubtedly be the aftermath of the Coronavirus pandemic. The global outbreak will affect contract dates and lengths soon and neither FIFA or any of the other governing bodies has proposed a solution yet.  Something has to be done but, right now, there is no idea what or when it will happen.
