In the statement, manager Frank Lampard said, “I’m happy to say that in Callum’s case, he has made great progress and almost feels his usual self, which is obviously the news we all want to hear.”

The academy product became the first Premier League player to test positive for the virus last week which caused a partial shutdown of Cobham – Chelsea’s training centre – for a deep clean.

The club also announced that Cobham is back up in running. However, staff who did have contact with Callum Hudson-Odoi recently remain in self-isolation as a precaution following the spread of coronavirus.

When Will Football Return?

The only thing we know for certain right now is that the 2020 UEFA European Championships have been postponed to the summer of 2021 after UEFA’s Tuesday meeting. As for the Premier League? No one knows. There is due to be a meeting taking place on Thursday which could give us more clarity.

In the same statement, Lampard continued, “Of course we still don’t know when competitive football will restart, but it isn’t worth worrying about that too much at the moment. We all miss football, but right now it’s about acting responsibly and in the best interests of society. I am sure I wasn’t the only one who found myself in a strange place with no sport this weekend, but ultimately none of that matters when we consider the bigger picture.”

And because of the uncertainty, the club wants players to remain fit. Each player received an exercise bike to carry out personalized training routines and nutritional plans to keep their diets on the straight and narrow.

Who knows, by the time Hudson-Odoi gets fully healthy again and his fitness back up, the Premier League may be back up and running. And just maybe, he’ll help Chelsea finish in the top four.
