Brad Young Agrees Deal to Sign for Chelsea from Hartlepool United

Premier League side Chelsea have agreed on a deal to sign goalkeeper Brad Young from Hartlepool United, according to Metro. The Blues look like they have beaten Arsenal and Manchester United to his signature.

His outstanding performances for Hartlepool’s youth side had sparked interested from a number of Premier League clubs. Furthermore, his performances landed him an England youth call up.

The Monkey Hangers wanted to keep their prospect, but a rumoured six-figure fee seems to have swayed them elsewhere.

Chelsea Win Race for Brad Young

Sky High Potential

Donning the number 31, Brad Young was born on 5 May 2002, making him only 17 years old.

Having started at Sunderland, he was released before ending up with the National League outfit, where he has shone ever since.

According to Hartlepool’s official website, “giant goalkeeper Brad Young was handed his first professional deal at the club after making excellent progress for the Youth Team last term.”

“The 6ft 4ins teenager has been on the books at Pools for five years and has shown great potential. [He stepped] up to play Youth Team football in 2017/18 despite still being an Under-16.”

Apparently, Young has been on trial with Chelsea over the last two weeks and a provisional fee has been agreed ahead of a move to Stamford Bridge.

Praise from Former Chelsea Player Ross Turnbull

Former Chelsea back-up Ross Turnbull is Hartlepool’s goalkeeping coach. The 35-year-old only had good things to say about the up-and-coming National League youngster.

He said, “At the moment, it’s all potential with Brad. Whenever anyone asks me about him I always say that if his work ethic and willingness to learn continues as it is then he will give himself the best opportunity to go and have a career as a professional footballer.”

“That’s got to be his goal. He’s on the right path at the moment but it’s still early days. This is just some good recognition for the work he’s been doing.”

Brad Young will supposedly link up with Chelsea’s youth system once he eventually signs.
