Multiple occasions prior to this have seen Kane linked to United. There has been previous potential for them to break the then world-record transfer fee to land the Englishman, however, the deal never materialized.

The difference between those occasions and this, however, is that Kane is now reportedly happy to leave Spurs. He is said to not want to endure yet another rebuild at the club and is not looking to renew his contract in North London. He may be open to a move up north, with United a considerable option.

Tottenham’s Problems

Tottenham have not played particularly well recently. Since the injury of Kane, and more recently that of Son Heung-min, they have lacked sharpness in attack, and with the pair not expected back for at least another month, Spurs could be in trouble.

Furthermore, their style of play under Jose Mourinho has been less than desirable to watch, like at many of the Portuguese’s former clubs, however it has not translated into any form of success as of yet in London.

Manchester United Considering the Move with New Players a Necessity There

Manchester United will surely be active in the 2020 summer transfer window. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer‘s first two windows as United boss have seen players come in and be successful, and fans will be hoping for more of the same this time around. Kane is also not the only player to have current links to the Red Devils.

The striker position is, however, one of United’s weakest positions. Current forward Anthony Martial is also capable of playing on the wing, and Kane could slot in between the Frenchman and Marcus Rashford, who is likely to recover from injury by the end of the season.

Although Kane could be the out-and-out goalscorer United need, he may not fit well with their style of play. The Red Devils have used counter-attacking tactics this season due to their great amount of pace. However, Kane does not possess great speed and may struggle in this system.

However, Kane is a proven striker and seems open to a move to United. At this stage, anything is possible.
