REPORT: Inter Milan Confident They Can Seal Tahith Chong Deal

Tahith Chong

Italian title-fighters Inter Milan are confident they can sign Manchester United winger Tahith Chong as a free agent this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The 20-year-old is one of United’s most promising youth academy products. However, he does face stiff competition from Daniel James and Mason Greenwood on the flanks.  Plus, established stars such as Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford are keeping him out of the starting side full-stop. His hopes of first-team football might just be fading week-in, week-out. He hasn’t been living up to the hype at the club.

Inter Milan have come forward as one of many clubs interested in Chong’s signature. Furthermore, he will become a free agent in the summer. With that, the Italian giants can pick him up on a free.

Tahith Chong to Inter Milan is a Strong Possibility

Antonio Conte’s Manchester Past

Antonio Conte isn’t shy of making interesting signings for this Inter team. In the past two transfer windows, he has signed Romelu Lukaku and Ashley Young from United. Furthermore, Lukaku has scored 17 goals already this term. Ashley Young is a valuable squad asset in Conte’s side, providing a debut assist.

Chong could prove to be just as valuable.

Fabrizio Romano has been one of the main journalists on the transfer saga. He says himself on Twitter, “Exclusive: Inter just met in Milano with the agent of [Tahith] Chong. He’ll be [a] free agent next June and has been offered to the Italian club. Many teams interested in him.”

Would Tahith Chong Benefit From the Move?

By the time the summer transfer rolls around, Inter could well be champions of Italy.

Chong would more than likely like to join a squad of champions, rather than struggle at a mediocre United side. With the inclusions of the aforementioned past United players, Chong wouldn’t take too long to adjust.

Conte would be more open to giving the youngster game time. It isn’t out the picture considering the rise of stars such as Lautaro Martinez and Nicolo Barella.

If Chong moves to Inter, he ould mould into a star in Italy.
