Ligue 1 Predictions

In Form Marseille Head to Lille

Marseille’s terrific unbeaten run will be severely tested when they face Lille on Sunday. Andre Villas-Boas’ team have turned the screw since their heavy defeat to Paris Saint-Germain, going 14 unbeaten and notching 11 wins. They head to a revitalised Lille side who have won their last three league matches.

Christophe Galtier’s team are enjoying an excellent February, winning all three league games and conceding just the one goal. His side are looking to ensure they remain in the Champions League places and more importantly make up ground on Marseille, who are currently nine points ahead of them.

However, they will be without top scorer Victor Osimhen, who was stretched off against Angers, and Lille are waiting for the severity of his injury to be confirmed. It’s a big blow for Galtier’s side, meaning Loic Remy will be the man tasked with securing victory against his former club. The experienced striker has chipped in with four goals but needs to up his return in the remaining months of the season.

Marseille are flying and victory on Sunday will pull them 12 points clear off fourth place Lille. Dimitri Payet has found scoring in Marseille’s last two wins and he will be looking to help secure the win against his former club.

Monaco and Montpellier Kick-Off Round 25 at the Principality Stadium

These two sides are fresh off victories and battling for European places meet as Monaco welcome Montpellier. The home side are slowly finding their groove under new manager Roberto Moreno while the visitors are fresh off a hard-fought win over Saint Etienne.

Monaco have slowly got themselves together and are motoring up the table under Moreno. They have won their last two league games and find themselves just five points off the Champions League places. Moreno has certainly taken his time to get his ideas across and it seems the players are adapting well to his changes. Two much-needed wins have installed confidence and belief into the team but will face a stern examination against a well-drilled Montpellier side.

Michel Der Zakarian’s Montpellier side are enjoying an excellent season and find themselves just three points off the Champions League spots. Victory at Monaco will temporarily put them ahead of Lille on goal difference. They collected a terrific win against Saint Etienne last time out having played the majority of the contest with ten men.
