The Deal

Shrewsbury announced via their website they had signed the defender. Ramsay arrives on loan for the remainder of the season.

The 19-year-old is highly thought of at Southampton and clearly, they want him to develop elsewhere. This will be his first loan away from the Saints.

He is a quality defender and Sam Ricketts will be delighted to have him on board.  Ramsay is eligible to make his debut against Rochdale tomorrow.

What Was Said

Speaking to the Shrewsbury website about his move, Ramsay said: “I am delighted to be here. I just want to progress and develop here over the season.

“Hopefully I can get as many minutes as possible and help Shrewsbury climb up the table. I will be working as hard as I can to cement a place in the team and will do my best and hopefully I get time on the pitch.

“I hope I can push on from here, it’s another key step in my career – hopefully it’s a good one. The manager has already told me that it will be difficult, and I will have to earn my place. I will have to work hard in training, and when I get the chance, I will show what I can do. My agent told me that Shrewsbury is good at developing young players.

“I played a game on Tuesday night and then got told about the move after it. Shrewsbury is the team that I wanted to go to out of all the teams I had a chance to join. I will get away from home, be able to concentrate, and as an individual, I will be able to progress my career.”

Ramsay gave an insight into his abilities: “I am athletic like to get up and down the pitch and like to get crosses into the box. I enjoy one-on-one battles and enjoy showcasing what I’ve got.”
