What Was Said

Speaking soon after the completion of the deal, Rovers manager Ben Garner spoke to the official club website: “We are delighted to welcome Cian to the club. He is a young, left-footed centre-back with great ability to build the play and strong defensive attributes.

“We feel Cian has the potential to really develop as a player and to be a great asset for us. He has had a really good grounding in the game and now has the opportunity to push his career forwards here at Rovers.”

Career to Date

Harries began his career at his hometown club Coventry City. The left-footed central defender made 17 appearances in all competitions for the Sky Blues before moving to Swansea City via a loan move at Cheltenham Town. He moved to Wales in 2017, making his debut the following year in the League Cup. Harries failed to make a league appearance at City and went on loan to Holland last summer, playing for Fortuna Sittard. The ball-playing centre back now has a chance at Rovers to move his career forward.

Welsh Youth International With Potential

Harries has represented his country, Wales, at various youth levels. He was part of the Wales U20 squad at the 2017 Toulon Tournament playing two out the three group games. Wales were eliminated at the group stage. He has also played several times for the U21 side, making his debut in a 3-1 win against Liechtenstein.
