The Deal

Cheltenham announced via their website they had signed the striker. Nichols arrives on loan for the remainder of the season and becomes Cheltenham’s third January signing.

Nichols is a vastly experienced striker and a proven goalscorer at League Two level. He has made 28 appearances for the Gas scoring four goals. His made a name for himself at Exeter City scoring plenty of goals and earning his big-money move to Rovers.

He joins Cheltenham ready to fire the Robins to League One. The Robins sit just a point outside the play-off places, but they do have games in hand on their rivals. Michael Duff has recruited attackers in this window with injuries crippling his attack.

Nichols is an excellent addition and a proven goalscorer at this level. The deal for Nichols completes Cheltenham’s transfer business for the January window; Duff is satisfied with  Cheltenham’s squad as they push for promotion.

Nichols is eligible to make his debut tomorrow against Morecambe as Cheltenham look to get their form back on track.

What Was Said

Speaking to the Cheltenham website about his move, Nichols said: “I’m glad to get it over the line and I’m looking forward to getting going and getting some games.”

“There are a lot of forwards here. The competition for places is high. I’m under no illusions that I’m going to play every week – I’ve got to work hard and take my chance when I get it.”

“We’ve got a great chance of getting promoted this season, we’ve got a few games in hand, and that’ll get us right in the mix. It’s good to join a club on the up.”
