The Deal

Scunthorpe announced via their website they had signed the defender. Gabriel arrives on loan for the remainder of the season.

The defender is Paul Hurst’s first January signing. He arrives aiming to help push Scunthorpe closer to the play-off places.

Gabriel has been part of the Nottingham Forest set up since 2016 after leaving his first club Southend United. Forest want him to get some games under his belt and build up plenty of experience.

He will arrive aiming to help Scunthorpe shore up their defence. The Iron have struggled to keep clean sheets and conceding goals has hampered their season. They are thirteen points off where they want to be. A huge push is needed in the final four months of the season.

Gabriel is eligible to make his Scunthorpe debut this weekend in the Iron’s clash with high flying Crewe Alexandra.

Junior Brown Extends His Loan Deal at Glanford Park

As well as announcing the arrival of Gabriel, Scunthorpe have also confirmed Junior Brown’s loan from Coventry City has been extended until the end of the season.

Brown has been a regular for Scunthorpe since joining from Coventry. His loan was quickly extended after Jordan Clarke and Kgosi Ntlhe sustained injuries.

Speaking to the Scunthorpe website about the loan extension, Brown said “I’m delighted to get it over the line. It was a bit last minute on Monday to get it over the line for me to play on Tuesday, but overall, I’m delighted to get it done and extend it until the end of the season.”

“I’ve massively enjoyed it so far. Results haven’t always gone our way, but I think in the last three or four weeks the performances we have put in have shown that we’ve upped the tempo. We haven’t always got the results we’ve deserved, but if we keep playing in that manner, we will start getting the results that we deserve.”
