Swindon Sign Hallam Hope from Carlisle United

Swindon announced via their website they had signed the striker. Hope arrives for an undisclosed fee signing an 18-month contract at the County Ground.

The striker has been prolific at League Two level since joining the Cumbrians. Hope has notched 31 goals in 123 appearances for Carlisle. However, goals have been in short supply for the Barbados international in a struggling Carlisle team.

Hope joins looking to fill the void left by both Eoin Doyle and Jerry Yates. Both Doyle and Yates have been recalled by their parent clubs leaving Swindon severely short up front.

A double blow for Richie Wellens but he will be delighted to have Hallam Hope on board as he looks to secure promotion to League One. Hope has played at all levels of the EFL and brings plenty of experience to the Swindon team.

Hope will make his debut this weekend when Swindon face Port Vale in a key between two sides competing for promotion.

Jerry Yates Recalled by Rotherham

Hallam Hope’s arrival was quickly announced after Jerry Yates was recalled by Rotherham. A huge blow for Richie Wellens and Swindon who has been outstanding for the Robins.

In a statement on their website, Swindon confirmed: “Swindon Town can confirm that Jerry Yates has been recalled by his parent club, Rotherham United.”

“Jerry has made 29 appearances for the club in all competitions scoring 13 goals. The 23-year-old is the second top goal scorer in the division with 12 goals behind fellow former loanee, Eoin Doyle.”

“Yates joined the club on-loan from the Millers in July last year and has been a key part of Town’s charge to the top of League Two.”

“He has quickly become a fan favourite because of his quality in the final third but, most of all, his willingness to give his all for the shirt.”

“We would like to thank Jerry for his service in his six months – he has been a fantastic player to watch and an excellent person to have at the club.”
