Brennan Dickenson Joins Exeter City After Cancellation of MK Dons Contract

Brennan Dickenson

Brennan Dickenson has joined League Two side Exeter City on a deal until the end of the season. The left-sided player was with MK Dons in League One but struggled to break into the side after his move from Colchester United in the summer. His contract at Stadium MK has been terminated, and he will now see out the campaign with the Grecians.

Career So Far

After spending his youth career with Southampton, Dickenson started out in non-league with Dorchester Town before being snapped up by Brighton & Hove Albion.

He then had loans with Chesterfield, AFC Wimbledon and Northampton Town before making a permanent move to Gillingham.

He made 67 appearances in his two years with the Gills before moving on to Colchester, where he spent a further three years before joining the Dons upon their promotion back to League One.

What Was Said

Speaking to the Exeter City website, manager Matt Taylor said: “Before his injury a few seasons back he was one of the most in-demand players in the lower leagues. We want to try and getting him to that sort of form. Get him feeling confident about the place and feeling comfortable in this environment.

“That will be absolutely key and he has got free reign to go and play best he possibly can. He has got to fight for his shirt first and foremost. He has got to get in the team and then when he’s in the team he has got to keep hold of that shirt because, obviously Joel Randell and Jayden Richardson have done so well on that left-hand side recently and with Deano [Dean Moxey] coming back in that is another option. However, January is a difficult window in terms of bringing in players who can affect the team in a positive way and we think Brennan can do that.”
