Career So Far

Having come through the youth academy with Leicester, King played most of his career with the Foxes. Seeing his beloved club relegated from the Championship to League One, King stayed with the club. Leicester were promoted back the Championship the following season.

King was an integral member of The Foxes team through all the years in the Championship, playing in almost every game. The midfielder scored 39 goals in the five seasons following promotion back.

The Foxes won promotion to the Premier League in the 2013/2014 season. During the 2015/2016 season when Leicester won the title, King played in over half the matches. The midfielder also scored two goals.

During the second half of the 2017/2018 King was no longer required by The Foxes. Still under contract, the midfielder was sent out on loan to Swansea City, making 11 appearances and scoring two goals.

Since then, King has been on loan with Derby County and, latterly, Rangers. The Scottish club had signed King on loan for the whole season. The midfielder only made two appearances north of the border, and the club decided to end the loan early.

What This Means for the Future

For King, this means first-team football. Although at 31 he is no spring chicken, this move is ideal. Huddersfield are craving something in midfield since Aaron Mooy went on loan to Brighton & Hove Albion.

King will also be amongst friends. Danny Simpson was also in the Premier League winning team and the Terriers’ newest permanent signing, Richard Stearman, was in the academy at The Foxes.

Huddersfield are getting an experienced midfielder. King knows not only the Premier League but the Championship. Knowing your way around both divisions is extremely helpful as they are very competitive leagues.

King brings midfield experience to the Terriers, alongside the energetic youngsters the 31-year-old is a fantastic signing for the Yorkshire team. King is also out of contract in the summer, making him an ideal free signing at that stage.
