Formation Tweak Worked a Treat
Sadio Mane’s goal in the first half was enough for Liverpool to secure another victory, meaning only Manchester United have taken points off the Reds this season. Jurgen Klopp’s tweak in tactics worked a treat, especially in a pulsating first half.
Mohamed Salah was put through the middle, with Roberto Firmino playing just behind him. Sadio Mane and Adam Lallana completed a three behind Salah. The front four caused a much-changed Wolves team all sorts of problems. The pace in behind stretched the Wolves back three on several occasions. A mix of poor finishing and excellent goalkeeping from Rui Patricio kept the scoreline down, especially in the first half. Wolves will feel hard done by considering they had a controversial goal ruled out by VAR, but they gave Liverpool a stern test. As far as Liverpool are concerned, though, it’s another win on the board as they take a further step to a first league title since 1990.
Lallana has become somewhat of a bit-part player, but he impressed in Liverpool’s only change from their win at Leicester City. The English midfielder is expected to leave at the end of the season, but he is determined to bring continued success. He put in a real shift for Liverpool and enjoyed his afternoon against a rarely trialled Wolves right-hand side.

Liverpool crowned their wonderful year in style in front of an atmospheric Anfield which partied throughout the game. It’s been a year to remember for Jurgen Klopp, who finally secured silverware with the Reds. They are ready to take 2020 by storm and maintain their sensational form in the Premier League.
