Inconsistency Cost Jardim His Job

Monaco become the third Ligue 1 side to change managers this season. Jardim only returned in January after Thierry Henry’s disastrous three months in charge. He steered them to safety last season, but the Principality club have struggled to get close to Paris Saint-Germain and the Champions League places.

Monaco sit ninth in the table and despite their terrific home form in recent months, their average performances and disappointing away results have cost Jardim his job. They are much improved on last season but clearly the gap between the Champions League places and their current league position isn’t good enough for the Monaco hierarchy.

They have a solid team in place and they can certainly achieve a top-four finish this season. Monaco will look to do business in January before the season resumes on January 10th. Their away form and performances have got to improve if they are going to challenge for a place in the Champions League.

Robert Moreno Announced as Monaco’s New Manager

Following Leonardo Jardim’s sacking, Monaco quickly confirmed former Spain manager Robert Moreno would replace Jardim in the Monaco dugout. Moreno has vast amounts of experience having worked under Luis Enrique at the likes of Roma, Celta Vigo, Barcelona and the Spanish national team.

Moreno is tasked with getting Monaco back into the Champions League and improve their general play and performances. He has agreed to a deal which runs until 2022. Moreno’s first game is at home to PSG on January 12th.
