Fantasy Premier League Festive Season Preview

With the Fantasy Premier League game having two gameweeks in less than 48 hours, it is probably prudent to plan your squad in advance. Hopefully, this article will help with your FPL side over this festive period.

Fantasy Premier League Picks: Gameweeks 19 and 20

Goalkeepers

Despite losing to Newcastle United last weekend, Vicente Guaita remains the best bet according to the fixtures. He faces West Ham United and Southampton in the next couple of matches.

Dean Henderson is the highest-scoring goalkeeper on FPL this season despite playing a game less than most. He has a great fixture against Watford at home although he then goes to Manchester City away. As a long term pick, he has served his FPL owners well so far and that seems likely to continue.

Martin Dubravka should also be considered. He faces Manchester United away and then has Everton at home. Newcastle’s currently solid defence will help his cause for sure.

Defenders

Not many would have predicted at the start of the season that two Sheffield United defenders would be amongst the top three highest-scoring defenders on FPL at this stage. However, one finds John Lundstram and George Baldock up there right now. Maybe a Blades defence double-up is not the worst idea in the world.

Newcastle have injury concerns at the back with doubts over Jetro Willems and Paul Dummett. With Jamaal Lascelles and Ciaran Clark also out, it looks like Federico Fernández, Fabian Schär and Florian Lejeune will form the back three. The Magpies have a good defensive record and one of their defenders could serve you well over the festive period.

Defenders from Crystal Palace are good contenders as well over the festive period. Mamadou Sakho will likely return from suspension this week which should provide the injury-ravaged Eagles with a timely boost. Martin Kelly and Patrick van Aanholt could also be considered.

Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United both have decent fixtures coming up. The attraction to go for the marauding full-back Serge Aurier remains strong but despite all his attacking threat, the Frenchman struggles to find the end product. He has Brighton & Hove Albion at home and Norwich City away coming up so there should be opportunities for him to do well. Manchester United have struggled to keep clean sheets this season. However, they have a great chance to keep one against one of the worst attacks in the league this week. Burnley away will not be a comfortable game for the red devils though.

With the return of Liverpool from the club world cup, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson come back into consideration. They face two tricky matches coming up though against Leicester City and Wolves.

Midfielders

Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling are great options on paper over the festive period. The threat of Pep Guardiola‘s rotation policy makes things tricky though. Considering the injury issues of De Bruyne, it is likely that he will be rested in one match somewhere. He has been declared fit for now. Riyad Mahrez could be a reasonable option as well with David Silva still out.

Sadio Mané and Mohamed Salah come back into contention after their trip to Qatar. The Egyptian has performed better recently but they are both exceptional players and can do well in any match.

Son Heung-min got sent off in the last game although Tottenham have appealed against that decision. Spurs have become a bit inconsistent of late but their fixtures are good enough to consider Dele Alli for sure.

Jack Grealish should be there in your side considering Aston Villa’s fixtures and their attacking style of play. The injury to John McGinn might affect their overall play though.

Richarlison, Willian, Mason Mount, Anthony Martial, Wilfried Zaha and James Maddison also could do well over the next couple of matches.

Strikers

Harry Kane definitely has the fixtures to reward his FPL owners over the next two gameweeks. He has struggled to score recently though with just two goals in the last five matches.

Tammy Abraham has scored only once in the last six matches in the Premier League. That is a worry for his FPL owners but he has a great home fixture against Southampton and then an away match at Arsenal coming up. There is huge potential for him to do well in both games.

Jamie Vardy just keeps on scoring. He has now 17 goals to his name this season and who can bet against him scoring even against Liverpool. The reds have not kept many clean sheets as well this season. So, Vardy could get one against them and then he has a favourable fixture at West Ham United next.

Danny Ings is in the form of his life and has scored seven goals in the last seven matches. He has Chelsea away and then Crystal Palace home. One cannot term them as easy games but Ings might still do well.

Marcus Rashford failed miserably against Watford last week which really angered his FPL owners. Will he do well to appease them this week?

Gabriel Jesus and Teemu Pukki are decent options to consider this week as well.
