Manchester United to Open Contract Talks with Scott McTominay

Daniel Cutts of the Sun reports that Scott McTominay is set to be rewarded with a new deal which sees his wages double to £60,000 a week. The Scot only signed a new deal in January, but the nature of his performances has urged United to tie him down further.

McTominay has become a fixture in the Manchester United midfield, making 18 appearances this season. The defensive midfielder has been outstanding both defensively and offensively. He has gone from strength to strength under Ole Gunnar Solksjaer and played a vital role in United’s tremendous Manchester Derby win. United generally win games when McTominay plays and certainly his performances this season have warranted a new deal.

Cutts reports that United will tie him down on £60,000 a week which will run until the summer of 2025 with the option of a further 12 months. United want to open talks with the Scottish international early in the new year.

Scott McTominay is Going from Strength to Strength

The arrival of Ole Gunnar Solksjaer in December 2018 certainly proved a turning point for McTominay. The midfielder has thrived and is really looking the imposing midfielder Manchester United have craved since Michael Carrick retired. The Sun noted that United rejected loan requests from Celtic and other Premier League clubs in January 2019. That proved a brilliant decision with the Scot firmly planting himself in the United team,

He has added goals to his game and is getting better with each passing game. A new deal is fully deserved as United look to continue their route of bringing players through their academy. McTominay is the shining example of hard work and shows a clear route to the first team.
