Transfer Rumours: Samuel Umtiti, Victor Wanyama, Jarrod Bowen, Ryan Fraser and Nathan Aké

Samuel Umtiti Hints at Next Club

According to Max Winters of Mail Online, Arsenal could lose out to Lyon in the chase for Samuel Umtiti. The French centre-back has found himself down the pecking order at Barcelona due to the form of Clément Llenglet. Now, he is seeking greener pastures in search of first-team football. However, that football could be at his former club Lyon and he reportedly prefers the French side to the Gunners.

Celtic Have Battle on Their Hands for Wanyama

If Matt Atherton of Express is correct, Neil Lennon can expect a transfer battle for their former star Victor Wanyama. The Scottish champions had planned to bring back their former star, but José Mourinho’s arrival could scupper that. Celtic reportedly face competition from several Premier League clubs for his signature.

Aké Lined Up as Vertonghen Replacement

Wayne Veysey of Football Insider writes that Spurs have lined up Nathan Aké as a potential replacement for Jan Vertonghen. The Belgian turns 33 in April, and his contract is out in the summer. The North London side want a left-sided centre-back who could also fill in at left-back; Aké certainly fits that description. 24-year-old Aké has impressed since his move to Bournemouth in 2017, and also fills their quota of homegrown players.

Newcastle Prepared to Wait for Bowen

Newcastle have long been admirers of Hull City’s Jarrod Bowen; the 22-year-old English attacker scored 22 goals in the Championship last season, and looks all the more electric this campaign. According to Clive Hetherington of Daily Star, Steve Bruce is keen to bring Bowen to St. James’ Park, but may wait until the season ends. The Englishman’s contract ends next summer, but the Yorkshire side have the option to extend it by a year. The Tigers will no doubt be desperate to keep hold of their £20million-rated attacker.

Fraser ‘Keeping Options Open’

Gareth Bicknell of the Mirror reports that Ryan Fraser is ‘keeping his options open’ over a potential summer move. The Scottish winger is out of contract in the summer, and counts Liverpool and Arsenal among his admirers. After providing 14 assists in the Premier League last year – second only to Eden Hazard – he is a wanted man. Jurgen Klopp reportedly wants him to provide depth for their destructive front three. However, he could yet choose to extend his stay with the Cherries.
