Arsenal Rumours: Bernd Leno Linked With Bayern Munich, Arsene Wenger Not

Arsenal slumped to another defeat under Unai Emery on Saturday as they fell to Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester City 2-0. What may be more surprising than the continued lack of form is some of the gossip around the club this weekend. Bernd Leno is being linked with a transfer to Bayern Munich. Meanwhile, Arsene Wenger isn’t.

Arsenal Rumours: Leno May Be in With Munich, Wenger Out

The Arsenal goalkeeper may be conceding goals left and right, but it is not for the want of trying. In fact, the German is one of the few bright spots in the Gunners squad at the moment.

Bernd Leno has even impressed the mighty Bayern Munich. The Bavarians’ long-time shot-stopper Manuel Neuer is getting older. At 33, he still has years of football left but injuries and poor form have forced the question of how much longer Munich will stick with their man.

No wonder then that the Sun have linked Bernd Leno with a transfer to Bayern Munich. The former Bayer Leverkusen ‘keeper is Germany’s third-choice between the sticks behind Neuer and Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

While Bayern likely would prefer to attract the Barcelona man, he is integral to the Catalonian’s plans. That makes an approach for Arsenal’s number one much more feasible.

Arsene Wenger Won’t Get Munich Appointment

Arsene Wenger has taken a good long break from management. Having left the Arsenal job in May 2018, he has yet to take a new position in the game aside from some brief punditry work.

He was linked with the now vacant manager’s chair at Bayern Munich after the Bundesliga giants sacked Niko Kovacs. However, Bayern chief executive Karl-Heinze Rummenigge revealed this weekend that caretaker boss Hans-Dieter Flick will remain in charge of his side for the foreseeable future.

After Bayern’s 4-0 demolition of Borussia Dortmund in Der Klassiker, Rummenigge also said he will inform Arsene Wenger of his decision, ceasing speculation of such an appointment.
