Paris Saint-Germain Thrash Marseille in Le Classique Plus Ligue 1 Prediction Results

Le Classique

Another pulsating round of Ligue 1 matches has come to an end, with plenty of talking points and exciting action. Paris Saint-Germain’s lead at the top has now stretched to eight points after they won Le Classique and closest challengers Nantes lost. Meanwhile, Rudi Garcia collected a first win as Lyon manager and Rennes secured a first win in eight games.

Paris Saint-Germain Thrash Marseille in Le Classique

Mauro Icardi and Kylian Mbappe Both Scored Braces

PSG thrashed Marseille 4-0 in the first Le Classique of the season. Thomas Tuchel’s side were rampant and Marseille struggled to contain Mauro Icardi and Kylian Mbappe. Both strikers notched braces in the first half to extend their unbeaten run to 16 games against Marseille.

Marseille struggled to assert themselves and ultimately caved in a disastrous first half. Icardi scored the first two goals of the contest. The Argentine fired into the top corner before heading in his second. Mbappe finished the scoring with a brace of his own. The exciting Frenchman latched onto Angel Di Maria’s pass to make it three for PSG. His second arrived on the cusp of half time after again latching onto another Di Maria pass.

The result sees PSG maintain top spot and extend their lead to eight points. Meanwhile, Marseille drop to seventh.

Rennes Secure Crucial Win Over Toulouse

Rennes ended their seven-match winless run by edging out Toulouse in a thrilling contest. Julian Stephan’s side headed into the game on a dreadful run and desperate for a positive result. Stephan got the dream start as Rennes powered their way to a 2-0 lead after just six minutes courtesy of Mbaye Niang and Adrien Hunou.

Antoine Kombouare’s team rallied and came back to two apiece thanks to Mathieu Dossevi and Max Gradel, but the home side were not to be denied as they snatched all three points in stoppage time thanks to Yann Gboho.

The result sees Rennes climb into the top half, while Toulouse slump to 17th, just one point clear of the relegation zone.
