Preview: Fantasy Premier League Gameweek Nine

Fantasy Premier League Gameweek Nine is here after what seemed like a neverending international break. Read on for some useful tips on how to make this gameweek a good one.

Fantasy Premier League Gameweek Nine Picks

Goalkeepers

Paulo Gazzaniga (£4.4) could be a great punt this week and beyond in the absence of Hugo Lloris. A kind home fixture against Watford should provide an ideal opportunity for the Argentine to cement his place for Tottenham Hotspur.

Kepa Arrizabalaga (£5.5), Kasper Schmeichel (£5.1) and Rui Patricio (£5.1) all have a decent shout of a clean sheet this week.

Defenders

Last season’s FPL darling Matt Doherty (£6.0) has had a disappointing season so far. However, he returned 15 points on his last home game. Can he deliver the goods this week?

Chelsea have a fantastic home fixture against Newcastle United at home. Marcos Alonso (£6.2) seems safe to start and could have a good game. Fikayo Tomori (£4.7) could be a great option on the cheap.

One might consider a Tottenham defender this week as well. Unfortunately, it is a bit tricky to pick the right one as Mauricio Pochettino randomly rests/drops players. Toby Alderweireld (£5.5) has started all the matches so far and could be the safest option.

Lucas Digne (£6.0) has been hugely disappointing so far this season. In fact, he has blanked in each of the last four matches. The Frenchman has created a lot of chances but sadly for his owners, has only two assists to his name. Will the luck change for him and for the Toffees this week?

Midfielders

Mason Mount (£6.8) has had a dream season so far. He even got an England call-up last week. The 20-year old has a cracking home fixture against Newcastle United this week. It seems like a no-brainer to bring him in if you do not have him already.

Callum Hudson-Odoi (£5.9) also poses huge threat to opposition defence. He could be a great darkhorse pick this week.

Aston Villa‘s John McGinn (£5.8) infuriated his owners last week by returning only a solitary point despite Villa thrashing Norwich. Can he make amends this week?

Heung-Min Son (£9.8) scored 16 points against Crystal Palace at home in gameweek five. His owners will hope for something similar this week.

Mohamed Salah (£12.5) and Sadio Mané (£11.7) cannot be ignored despite having an away trip to Old Trafford.

Kevin De Bruyne is back in training and could be back in the starting lineup for Manchester City this week. Over 30% of FPL managers own him and they will hope for a happy return for the Belgian. Raheem Sterling (£12.1) has only scored once in the last five Premier League matches. He will look to deliver this week as Manchester City look to bounce back from last gameweek’s disappointing home loss.

Strikers

Tammy Abraham (£7.7) is the outstanding striker pick this week. The young English striker is flying high this season with eight goals to his name already. He will look to add to that tally this week.

Callum Wilson (£7.9) has been quite consistent this season. He faces the leakiest defence in the league so far in Norwich City. One should definitely consider him strongly this week.

Harry Kane (£10.9) has had an underwhelming season so far. He has not done too badly but at that price, FPL managers want more from him. He has a more than decent home fixture this week against the second leakiest defence in Watford.

Raúl Jiménez (£7.1) has Southampton at home this week. The Mexican did not feature in International football this week so should be fully rested for this fixture.
