Transfer News and Rumours

Manchester United Eye Double Swoop For Spurs Stars

According to Harry Pratt of The Daily Star, Manchester United are keeping tabs on two Tottenham Hotspur players. The Red Devils are keen on Lucas Moura, hoping to capitalise on the Brazilian’s situation in London. Despite signing a new five-year contract in July and playing a crucial role in Tottenham’s Champion’s League run, Moura is unsettled in London. Furthermore, Mauricio Pochettino is yet to show faith in his ability to be a starter. Moura has not yet completed a full 90 minutes for Spurs and will want a more integral role. Should he not be satisfied at the club, he will seek an exit. This could be a situation Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to take advantage of.

Moura may not be the only Spurs player on his way to Manchester, with United eyeing teammate Eric Dier too. Prior to Spurs’ game against Leicester City, Dier had not made an appearance for the North London outfit this season. Clearly, Pochettino does not see him as a crucial member of the side. Thus, Dier may well be another departure in January.

Arsenal Look at Former Youth Striker Malen

After selling the striker two years ago, Arsenal are keen on bringing Donyell Malen back to London. Simon Mullock of The Mirror writes that the Gunners want the Dutch striker, who has scored 11 goals in 13 games this season. Malen currently plies his trade for Dutch side PSV Eindhoven and became the first player since Marco van Basten to score five Eredivisie goals in one game, against Vitesse Arnheim. However, Arsenal face competition from European champions Liverpool for the £50 million-rated forward.

European Giants Flock For Haaland

Another young striker attracting interest in Europe is Erling Braut Haaland, a 19-year-old Norwegian. Haaland scored a hat-trick in Red Bull Salzburg’s 6-2 win over Genk in the Champions League last week. That brought his tally to 17 goals in all competitions this season, despite only playing nine games. Now, Martin Domin of The Mirror writes that Juventus have entered the fray for his signature. But, the Italian side will face stern competition from both Manchester United and Manchester City. His father, Alf Inge, played for Leeds United and Manchester City, but a challenge from Roy Keane ended his career.

Villa and Leeds to Vie For McCallum

According to Ben Husband of Birmingham Live, Aston Villa will face competition from Leeds United for Sam McCallum. The 19-year-old Coventry City starlet has excelled in Mark Robin’s side’s bright start in League One. Aston Villa won’t have to travel far to keep tabs on the young defender, with Coventry playing their home games at Birmingham City’s St. Andrews stadium. However, Leeds are just one of a number of Championship clubs monitoring the youngster’s progress. If he continues in the same vein of form, a move in January could be on the cards.

Premier League Interest in John

According to Simon Jones of Mail Online, two Premier League clubs are monitoring Doncaster Rovers defender Cameron John. The 20-year-old centre-back has impressed on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers, scoring twice in his eight appearances. Now, Crystal Palace, Leicester City and Middlesbrough are all considering the youngster. John has been key to Doncaster’s great start, as they seek promotion from League One. Though he is in the last year of his contract, Wolves have the option to extend it by another year.
