A Long Hunt Ahead

The task of having viable competition for Harry Kane has been Mauricio Pochettino’s headache at Tottenham for much of his tenure. In recent years, both Heung-Min Son and Lucas Moura have stepped in to fill Kane’s shoes when necessary, however, the Tottenham manager is now keen to have a natural second striker.

As a result, this has led to the scouting of Kosovo international Vedat Muriqi. According to the report, scouts from Tottenham were sent to watch Muriqi in action for Kosovo against the Czech Republic. However, they were not the only side to do so, as Napoli, Fiorentina and Lazio were also in attendance.

Who Is Vedat Muriqi, The Potential New Tottenham Striker?

Vedat Muriqi is not a name that will be familiar to English football fans, having spent the entirety of his career in career.

The 25-year-old only joined Fenerbahce during the 2019 summer transfer window. He signed a four-year contract with the Turkish giants. As a result, reports suggest that Fenerbahce are not willing to let him go in January.

Nonetheless, Muriqi has excelled in his first games with his new club. He has scored two goals in three games in the league, continuing his excellent form from the 2018/19 campaign.

Last season saw the 25-year-old record his best season in his career. He scored 17 goals in 34 matches for Turkish Super Lig side Rizespor, also registering eight assists across the season.

As a result, he could prove a good backup option for Harry Kane. However, Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino may have to wait to land his man, due to the Turkish sides reluctance to sell.
