Dias has been a part of Benfica since 2008 when he signed for their youth academy and the Portuguese side will be hopeful of keeping him at the club. Manchester United, Wolves, and Arsenal are all keeping close eyes on the Portuguese international.

However, with the current transfer market prices, the promising defender has a release clause of around £80 million. Additionally, Benfica have Dias tied down long term, until 2024. Alongside his gigantic release clause, that puts Benfica in a strong position.

Would He Be Worth the Money?

The transfer market is a minefield place for big clubs nowadays. Most teams hope that they can cash in on their home-grown potential stars. Dias has had scouts from around the globe watching with interest. Therefore, Benfica have slapped a big price tag on their star-man. So what would a potential club be getting for their money?

Ruben Dias already displays a lot of strengths on the pitch and has the potential to add more to his game. The defender has established himself as a permanent fixture in the heart of Benfica’s defence. Dias was impressing at Benfica and the U23s, which earned him a call up to the international first team. Dias has played at every level of the Portuguese international squad and looks to be a future international star. Another attractive trait is that he rarely picks up injuries and maintains good overall fitness across a season.

With the Premier League becoming increasingly competitive, you must rely on every team member to chip in with goals. Another point in favour for Dias is goal-scoring, offering a valuable outlet in tight games. Dias can take the ball forward from defence and will look to drive out to expand the midfield.

Preparation is already in motion for the January transfer window and Benfica will surely be bracing for a few enquiring phone calls.
