Callum Hudson-Odoi is on the verge of returning from injury, and could be committing his future to Stamford Bridge. According to Oliver Harbord of Football.London, the 18-year-old is close to agreeing a new contract with Chelsea.

The Situation

Callum Hudson-Odoi is on the verge of returning to full fitness following rupturing his achilles in April. There are hopes that he will be back after the international break. As a result, Chelsea are keen to tie him down to a new deal.

The 18-year-old was highly sought after in January, with persistent interest from German champions Bayern Munich. However, Chelsea battled of the interest and under a new regime where youth look to be given a chance, he looks set to stay.

According to Oliver Harbord of Football.London, the new deal is a matter of ‘when’ not ‘if’. The reporter said:” There doesn’t seem now at all that there is a fear he will be leaving the club, like there was back in January.

“There is only just when the deal is going to be announced, which could coincide with his return to action.”

There are high expectations of Hudson-Odoi at Chelsea due to the promise that he has shown at Stamford Bridge. As a result, it is vitally important that they keep there best talents.

Callum Hudson-Odoi could have a long future ahead of him at Stamford Bridge. Frank Lampard now possesses two wingers aged above 30-years-old – Willian and Pedro. Both will not have long left at Chelsea, and Lampard will be keen to promote from within.

Changes at Stamford Bridge are certainly being put in place. Young players have a bright future at Stamford Bridge, and the first-in-line will be Hudson-Odoi.
