Pierre Emerick Aubameyang is Deserving of a New Contract at Arsenal

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Slowly, but surely, Unai Emery is developing his Arsenal side. Going forward they look threatening; meanwhile, in defence, they still look just as threatening to themselves. However, they need to embed their new attacking signings, with Nicolas Pepe being the main priority. It is why Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang deserves a new contract at Arsenal.

Pierre Emerick Aubameyang Deserves a New Arsenal Contract

Why Does He Deserve It?

The Gabonese striker promises goals, whether he plays as a lone striker or on the left of a front three. He has scored in three of Arsenal’s four Premier League fixtures so far this season, as well as an impressive 31 goals last season.

As a result, Arsenal need to maintain his threat for the future as they bid to return to their former glory days. This is despite Aubameyang now being 30-years-old

Arguably, the Gunners have not had an all-round striker similar to Aubameyang since the departure of Robin van Persie. While Olivier Giroud operated as a target man, he was not the greatest with his feet, nor did he possess intelligent reading of the game like Arsenal’s current number 14.

Keeping Aubameyang Benefits Arsenal for the Future

Persuading the Gabonese striker to sign a new contract would signal a statement of intent from Arsenal. Despite his tender age, he is seen as a world-class striker. Tying him down to a new deal may be more important than new signings.

Keeping Aubameyang not only benefits Arsenal for the future, but it also benefits their current cohort of players – none more so than Nicolas Pepe. The Ivorian is still finding his feet at the Emirates. However, there is no doubt that he will play a starring role this season, as well as in the future. The 24-year-old can form an impressive partnership with Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette, and together, the trio can help Arsenal compete at the top of the table.

Who Else Deserves a New Contract at Arsenal?

It is vital that Arsenal keep Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Nicolas Pepe and Alexandre Lacazette together. Strikers are an expensive commodity in the modern game. As a result, it is important that Lacazette is also rewarded with a new deal.

According to Mark Irwin of The Sun, there are expected renewals for both Lacazette and Aubameyang. If they both agree to new deals, it will help stake their claim as one of the best strike forces in the Premier League.

Furthermore, should he impress further in his loan spell, then Unai Emery should consider making Dani Ceballos a permanent figure. The Spaniard could be the ideal attacking replacement for Aaron Ramsey.
