Macclesfield Town Up Next For The O’s

Macclesfield Town are up next for Leyton Orient, as they travel to Moss Rose. The O's play their first EFL away fixture in two years on Saturday.

Following their opening day victory over Cheltenham Town, Leyton Orient are away to Macclesfield Town on Saturday. The O’s beat Cheltenham Town 1-0 last weekend. But this week they face the Silkmen, in what could be a tricky fixture for Ross Embleton’s side.

Beginning as They Mean to Go On

Leyton Orient got off to the best possible start to the season. A 1-0 win at home to mark their EFL return was exactly what was needed. However, they will need to ensure that they can pick up where they left off.

Their opposition, Macclesfield Town, started their campaign with a narrow 1-0 loss away to Exeter City. Manager Sol Campbell kept the Silkmen in the football league on the final day last season. The former Arsenal player will be hoping to keep his side afloat in the EFL once again this season.

As for the O’s, making it two wins from two would be a dream start to the season. Beginning as they mean to go on should be the motivation for Ross Embleton and his side. Another three points in what will be a tricky game would be ideal, but even a point would be a valid result.

Macclesfield Town away: The type of game they need to turn up in

The EFL season ahead for the O’s will be a long, tiring, and at times difficult one. With 45 more games to play, whilst still early in the season, there is no harm in racking up as many points as possible even early on.

Orient’s trip to Moss Rose will not be a comfortable one, as Macclesfield Town have proven to be a side that knows how to scrap. The Silkmen scrapped their way to survival last season, and there is no doubt that their fixture against the O’s will show exactly how tough of a nut Macclesfield can be to crack.

This is the exact type of fixture the O’s will need to turn up in, and grind out a result. They will be pivotal to their form, especially if they want to ensure their EFL status for next season.

Prediction for Saturday

Saturday could prove to be a long day for the O’s. But since last season, they have displayed determined, willful character traits in the squad, which have been vital to their success.

On the other hand, Macclesfield are no strangers to a scrap and they will continue to do so this season. The Silkmen will be more than up for making Orient’s afternoon as uncomfortable as possible.

A 1-1 draw would suit both sides on Saturday, as Orient can continue with some momentum, whereas Macclesfield can chalk a point off the board to start their season.
