A Rising Prospect in Dan Happe

A product of the club’s academy, Dan Happe has risen through the ranks of Leyton Orient. In recent seasons, he has been showcasing his prospects in the first team.

After a brief loan spell at Histon two years ago, Happe was called up to the first team in February 2017. Then, two months later, he made his professional debut against Cambridge United.

Since then, the 20-year-old has featured frequently for the O’s, most notably last season as he made 26 appearances in their National League title-winning campaign.

At this point, Happe is a solid squad player who fits in perfectly for the O’s. Also still only 20, he has time to progress and get plenty of game time this season.

Depth at the Back

A few weeks ago, Jamie Turley signed a new contract with Orient. Now with Happe extending his stay, the depth at the back for the O’s looks promising.

Alongside Turley and Happe, the likes of Josh Coulson and Marvin Ekpiteta also provide options as centre-backs.

Interim head coach Ross Embleton has signalled his intentions with this contract extension, as there is no doubt that Happe will likely feature frequently once again this season. There will be no better opportunity for the player then playing in the EFL.

When it comes to depth at the back, the choice for a variation of partnering centre backs is there. Therefore with this in mind, perhaps a rotation will be ideal for the O’s this season, especially between league and cup competitions.

Furthermore, it could also potentially spark some competition which would be welcome.
