Career So Far

30-year-old Byron Moore has signed for Plymouth Argyle after leaving Sky Bet League One side Bury.

Moore follows in the footsteps of four ex-Shakers to have transferred from Gigg Lane. Will Aimson, Danny Mayor, Will Telford and Callum McFadzean have all made the move across from the League One outfit.

Byron is also a familiar face to Argyle manager Ryan Lowe and his assistant Steven Schumacher as both managed him at Bury. He is also a former team-mate of Pilgrims players Antoni Sarcevic and Joel Grant.

Moore came through the Crewe Alexandra academy and went on to make nearly 300 appearances for the Railwaymen. During his time at the Alexandra Stadium, Moore scored 34 goals and assisted another 40.

The 30-year-old has also been twice a Wembley winner, scoring in the 2012 League Two play-off final and playing in the following season’s Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.

Moore signed a two-year contract with League One side Port Vale in July 2014, further intensifying the rivalry between Vale and the Railwaymen.

The experienced forward enjoyed two two-season spells in League One with Vale and then Bristol Rovers before signing for Bury in June 2018.

Moore scored eight goals in 44 appearances as the Shakers secured automatic promotion at the end of the 2018-19 season.

Bury’s Problems Continue

Moore’s move to Home Park follows in the footsteps of four other Shakers who have moved from Gigg Lane.

30-year-old Moore had twelve months remaining on his contract; however, financial problems with Bury have led to players feel insecure and a number looking to move on in order to escape the problems.

Moore was one of those determined to make a departure. Football Insider reported earlier in July that the striker served notice to terminate his contract.
