Arsenal have reached an agreement with Real Madrid to sign Dani Ceballos on a season-long loan, according to BBC Sport journalist David Ornstein.

Real Madrid Reach Agreement With Arsenal Over Dani Ceballos

Season-Long Loan

According to Ornstein, Arsenal are set to sign the Spanish Under-21 midfielder on a season-long loan deal.

The Gunners have been forced to venture into the loan market this season due to reduced financial powers.

Missing out on the Champions League by one point – and having lost the Europa League final to Chelsea – has meant that the London side has had their transfer budget greatly slashed ahead of the 2019-20 season.

Arsenal boss Unai Emery remains committed to strengthening his squad for his first season in charge. The Spaniard has moved a step closer to doing so with the latest development regarding Ceballos.

The Spanish Under-21 midfielder was identified as a top target for the Gunners this summer.

Zinedine Zidane’s plans for a revolution at Real Madrid, spending more than £200 million this summer, has meant that players have been offloaded in order to balance the books.

Ceballos, therefore, is one of those set to depart the Bernabeu in order to make funds available.

A Moral Victory for Arsenal

Ceballos has been highly sought after due to a string of impressive performances at the Under-21 European Championships.

The talented playmaker played a starring role as Spain beat Germany to win the crown.

Arsenal have had to fight fierce competition from Premier League rivals to obtain Ceballos’ signature.

According to Football.London, both Liverpool and Arsenal’s north London rivals Tottenham have been linked to the creative playmaker. Similarly, Serie A giants AC Milan are also reportedly interested in the midfielder.

In the modern-day both Liverpool and Spurs are challenging for a Premier League title which seems out of reach for Arsenal; therefore, by beating their top-flight rivals to the talented midfielder will give the Gunners a well-needed confidence boost.
