Staying On

Leyton Orient have announced that Jamie Turley has signed a two-year deal with the club. The 29-year-old joined the O’s in January for the remainder of last season, after a brief spell at Notts County.

Despite joining Orient mid-season, Turley proved to be a key player. Immediately coming into the starting 11, Turley enjoyed a positive period in the side.

Now, with the former Eastleigh player making his move more long-term, this is the right move in the right direction for the club ahead of their forthcoming League Two campaign.

Experience and Familiarity

Winning promotion with Orient, Jamie Turley had a defensively sound time for the O’s. Winning multiple Man of the match awards, Turley is a good signing at this point in time.

A centre-back by trade, the former Newport County man also played as a right-back. He filled in for the injured Sam Ling while Myles Judd was absent, where his performances were met with loads of plaudits.

Displaying versatility last season, this is exactly what the O’s will require in the forthcoming campaign. As Turley is not unfamiliar with League Two, this is a signing that could prove to be a great bit of business by the East London club.

EFL Experience

Now with Jamie Turley putting pen to paper to remain an O’s player, is this the first of many experienced EFL players to commit to Orient.

The likes of Dean Brill, Josh Coulson and Matt Harrold, who has already agreed a new deal, boast tonnes of EFL experience. Additionally, there are also some younger squad players such as James Brophy who have EFL experience and have more to prove.

It will be interesting to see who will be on the O’s radar during the transfer window. Furthermore, what EFL experience their potential signings have as experience at this level of football can be the difference maker.
