Gameweek 34 Best Single Match-Ups

The season is coming to an end but the team-building strategies are still as complicated as ever. Brighton and Hove Albion and Cardiff City have double games this week but next week there are eight teams with two games. Hence, many fantasy managers are deploying the wildcard this week with a plan to use bench boost the next. Trying to cover all bases is not at all easy though. There is not much time left as well with yet another Friday deadline.

For those not deploying the wildcard chip, this gameweek does have some nice fixtures.

Leicester City are in great form and play Newcastle United at home this Friday. Jamie Vardy is playing really well while James Maddison and Youri Tielemans are other good options to consider.

Everton are in good form and they travel to Fulham. That should be enough to consider Lucas Digne, Gylfi Sigurðsson, and Richarlison.

Wildcard

This section is for those fantasy managers who are deploying the wildcard chip this week. Let’s do a team-by-team analysis of the teams that have double games in either Gameweek 34 or 35. Hopefully, it will help you best utilise the wildcard.

Arsenal

Fixtures against: Watford, Crystal Palace, Wolves

Arsenal have two tricky-looking away matches to come in the Premier League. In addition, they have two legs with Napoli to deal with as well in the Europa League. So, tough times are ahead for Unai Emery’s men. Sead Kolasinac, Alexandre Lacazette, Bernd Leno, and Nacho Monreal will probably get the most minutes. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Aaron Ramsey are key players so might be used more against Napoli.

Brighton & Hove Albion

Fixtures against: Bournemouth, Cardiff City, Wolves, Tottenham Hotspur

The Seagulls have back to back double gameweeks so their players could be good options for your side. With two home games to come, their defensive options are probably safer. Mathew Ryan, Shane Duffy, and Lewis Dunk are the best options on paper.

Cardiff City

Fixtures against: Burnley, Brighton, Liverpool

Their fixtures are hardly tempting so most fantasy managers will likely stay away from struggling Cardiff. However, Víctor Camarasa is a decent looking midfield option at a nice price.

Manchester United

Fixtures against: West Ham United, Everton, Manchester City

Manchester United have gone off the boil somewhat in recent weeks. They have some tough matchups to come with the Barcelona away leg in the Champion League to consider as well. So, the units might probably be better invested elsewhere.

Manchester City

Fixtures against: Crystal Palace, Spurs, Manchester United

Manchester City have not looked at their scintillating best in recent weeks. They lost to Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League in a tight game as well. However, they have the ability to turn it on in any match. Still, Pep Guardiola’s rotation policy means none of their players are safe, except maybe Ederson. One should consider Raheem Sterling, Sergio Agüero, and Aymeric Laporte as they are likely to get the most minutes.

Southampton

Fixtures against: Wolves, Newcastle, Watford

Southampton have three quite evenly matched fixtures in the next couple of weeks. The Saints need points to survive the drop. Hence, James Ward-Prowse, Yan Valery, Nathan Redmond, and Angus Gunn should be considered.

Tottenham Hotspur

Fixtures against: Huddersfield Town, Manchester City, Brighton

Tottenham Hotspur have a great matchup this week and a decent looking match against Brighton to come as well. The two matches at Manchester City will probably tire the players though. This could force Pocchettino to rotate in the easier looking matches. With Harry Kane injured, Heung-Min Son will be required to step up. Kieran Trippier, Christian Eriksen, and Dele Alli are other decent options. One might also look at Hugo Lloris as their starting keeper for the rest of the season.

Watford

Fixtures against: Arsenal, Huddersfield, Southampton

Watford are in high spirits after reaching the FA Cup final in dramatic fashion. This poses an interesting dilemma though. Will their players now try to save themselves for the big final or will they be raring to go after such a huge win? Troy Deeney has a history of scoring against Arsenal and should be considered very strongly. Ben Foster is a solid keeper and those fixtures should tempt you. Other options to consider are Abdoulaye Doucouré and Gerard Deulofeu.

Wolverhampton Wanderers

Fixtures against: Southampton, Brighton, Arsenal

Wolves players must be devastated after losing the FA Cup semi-final against Watford despite being 2-0 up. Will they bounce back with a great run to end the season or will that defeat knock the winds out of them? Their fixtures are definitely decent enough to consider Raúl Jiménez, Matt Doherty, and Diogo Jota though.
