Football Transfer News: Updates on Kovacic, Jerome Boateng, Dendoncker, Grealish and Courtois

Will He or Won’t He? Madrid Manager Keen to Keep Kovacic

Mateo Kovacic has been offered to Chelsea as part of a deal to take keeper Thibaut Courtois to the Bernabeu and is expected to have a medical with the Spanish giants.

However, Julen Lopetegui, the Madrid manager is reluctant to lose the Croatian midfielder. The move would be a loan deal and as you will see later in this football transfer news, Courtois is ready to sign with Madrid on a permanent deal tomorrow.

Leave Jerome Boateng a Loan

Jose Mourinho has made Jerome Boateng his number one priority before the transfer window closes. He is now considering a loan move for the player rather than a permanent transfer.

Since December 2016 Boateng has missed 27 games and some at Manchester United are concerned over the 29-year-old’s fitness. They are reluctant to spend big money for that reason.

Dendoncker to Wolves?

Belgian players are in high demand in this transfer window and Wolves are looking to add one to their ranks ahead of their return to the Premiership. Leander Dendoncker is travelling to England for a medical and to discuss personal terms ahead of a move from Anderlecht.

The fee is reported to be around £12 million. He can play as defensive midfielder offering Wolves cover in two areas they are short in.

On and Off and On Again? Grealish Saga to Rumble On

It seems like forever since Jack Grealish was first linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur. The Aston Villa midfielder has expressed his desire to join Spurs and feels that he can develop under Mauricio Pochettino.

Steve Bruce said that talks have taken place between the two clubs but Spurs are not near to the clubs valuation of the player. Yesterday, Spurs finally made a concrete offer of £25 million for Grealish and things looked to be progressing.

Nasser Sawiris, one of Villa’s new investors has other ideas though and seems to have put a stop to any transfer. The deal may not be dead in the water and Grealish could still move to north London.

The 22-year-old is said to be furious that his dream move is being blocked and it means there will be tense times in the remaining hours of this transfer window. Football Transfer News and Last Word on Football will bring you more news on this one as it happens.

AWOL Courtois to Finalise Madrid Move

Another saga that has featured in Football Transfer News is that of Thibaut Courtois and his move to Real Madrid. He was absent for Chelsea’s defeat to Manchester City and on Monday was again AWOL.

Chelsea are far from happy with the player’s behaviour but have now allowed Courtois to have a medical and discuss personal terms with a deal set to be finalised on Thursday. As you will have read, Kovacic may well be part of this final deal, potentially on a loan basis, but this is one piece of transfer news that seems to be very much done and dusted.
